Gather documentation

Once you know which programme(s) you wish to apply to, it is time to gather all the required documentation and prepare to submit your application.

The documentation you need to submit depends on both your educational background and which programme(s) you apply to.









If you are an applicant with an international Bachelor's Degree


You must upload:

  • Your official diploma or official transcript of records showing your examination results if you have not completed your degree programme at the time of application. The documentation must contain your name, the course titles, grades and weight in eg. credits or ECTS. You diploma must clearly state when you completed your Bachelor’s degree.
  • An official description of the grading scale at your foreign university. The grading scale must show the lowest passing grade and the highest grade.
     
  • Course descriptions for all courses you have passed or are currently taking.
    • The course descriptions can sometimes be found in your study programme which is often made available through the website of your educational institution. The course descriptions must be official eg. documented by creating a word-document where you insert each relevant course description followed by a direct link to where it can be found on your educational institution’s website. It may also be documented by a stamp and signature from your educational institution.
  • Upload documentation that you meet the language requirements of the degree programme. You can find information on language requirements here.
    • Documentation that you meet the language requirements of the degree programme.  If you cannot upload documentation of your English or Danish proficiency at the time of application, you must upload documentation that you are registered for a test or an explanation of when you expect to be able to take a test and upload the result. Read more about the language requirement under the admission requirements for the programme in question at masters.au.dk.


If relevant in relation to your situation, you must upload: 

  • Documentation of courses you are currently taking if you have not yet completed your degree programme at the time of application. The documentation must be official and contain your name, the course titles and weight, for example, in credits or ECTS.
  • Documentation of study abroad through a transcript of records and course descriptions that briefly describe the content of each of the courses from your studies abroad.
  • Documentation for supplementary Bachelor’s courses you have passed or for which you are registered.
  • Documentation that you have passed or expect to pass a Master’s degree programme before commencement of studies (cf. the Master's degree rule).
  • Documentation that you have passed courses on a Master’s degree programme you did not finish. As documentation you must upload your transcript of records for your passed courses on the Master’s degree due to mandatory credit transfer assessment.
  • Degree programme-specific documentation. You can find possible documentation requirements on the website for the specific degree programme.
  • Documentation showing all of your examination results and improved grades from your Bachelor’s degree. You can read more about improves grades here

Appendix requested - select programmes only

  • A number of programmes requests an Appendix to be uploaded. If the programme you are interested in requests an appendix, it will be stated on the programme page under Admission Requirements. Special admission requirements
Please note that there may be special documentation requirements for the Master's Degree programme you wish to apply for. Please see the Admission Requirements on the relevant programme page.   



Requirements for translation of documents

Documents that were not issued in either Danish, Norwegian, Swedish or English must be translated into one of these languages.

Translations of official diplomas must be issued by the university or accompanied by the signature and stamp of an authorised translator or your home university.

You are allowed to translate the course descriptions into English yourself, but if you chose to do so, you must enclose the originals.


If you are an applicant with a Danish Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's degree programme at AU – with legal right of admission

The application portal will, in connection with the creation of your application, request that you upload a number of documents. In connection with the application, you, as a student with legal right of admission, should only obtain your transcript of records via electronic data interchange in the digital application system.


If relevant in relation to your situation, you must upload:

  • Documentation that you have passed courses on a Master’s degree programme you did not finish. As documentation you must upload your transcript of records for your passed courses on the Master’s degree due to mandatory credit transfer assessment.
  • Documentation that you have passed, or expect to pass a Master’s degree programme before commencement of studies (cf. the Master's degree rule).


Special admission requirements

Bachelor's degree programme at AU – without legal right of admission

You must:

  • Documentation that you have passed, or expect to pass a Master’s degree programme before commencement of studies (cf. the Master's degree rule).
  • Documentation that you have passed courses on a Master’s degree programme you did not finish. As documentation you must upload your transcript of records for your passed courses on the Master’s degree due to mandatory credit transfer assessment.

Bachelor's degree from another Danish university
