After application

Once you have submitted your online application the waiting game starts as you wait for a reply to your application.

Below you can find an overview of your next steps and more information about what to expect next.

You can also find information about what to do, if you need to upload documentation after you have submitted your application.








Your next steps

Your next steps depends on the type of offer you receive (conditional or unconditional) and also on where you are from. If you are a Non-EU student, you will have one or two extra steps to go through.

Timelines

As you go through the next steps, you can find helpful overviews of all upcoming deadlines in the application timelines.



Receive your reply

Once your application has been assessed, you will receive a reply to your application. You will receive one of the following letters: 

  • Letter of admission 

  • Conditional letter of admission 

  • Status letter - if a final decision cannot be made at this point 

  • Letter of rejection 

If you are from outside the EU, you will also receive one of the following letters: 

  • Tuition fee notification 

  • Scholarship letter 


Conditional offer: If you have received a conditional offer it will be stated in your offer letter which documentation you will need to submit before you can be fully admitted. This is typically your Bachelor’s diploma or your English language test results.   


Accept your admission offer

Once you have received your (conditional) offer of admission you must accept this. To accept your offer, log on to the application portal, choose the tab “See status of applications” and accept by the deadline listed in your offer letter.  


Scholarship 

If you have been selected for a Danish state scholarship you will be notified around the same time that you receive your (conditional) offer of admission.

If your offer is conditional 

If you have received a conditional offer, make sure that you submit your documentation (e.g. Bachelor's diploma or English test results) by the relevant documentation deadline


Non-EU only

If you are a Non-EU student, you will have one or two extra steps to go through:

Pay your tuition fees

Once you have accepted your offer of admission you will receive instructions on how to pay your first semester's tutiion fees. 

If you have been selected for a Scholarship, you will skip this step. 

Apply for your Student Residence Permit

Once you have paid your tuition fees, you will reecive an application form for your Student Residence Permit. 

If you have been selected for a Scholarship, you will receive the application form after you have accepted your offer of admission. 


Wait for your enrolment

A month or two before you begin your studies, you will be offically and technically enrolled at Aarhus University. 

Once enrolled you will have access the various IT systems and services and be able to order your AU Student ID card and much more.  

You will notified automatically once you are enrolled and receive instructions on your next steps. In the mean time, you can check out the information available under Student orientation

Obligatory credit assessment 

If you have completed any Master's level courses before starting your studies at Aarhus University, you will need to apply for credit transfer.

Prior to your arrival in Aarhus, you will receive information about Housing in Denmark and our Intro Days programme and much more. If you are curious to learn more about what to expect, you can learn more at: 






Do you need upload documentation after you have submitted your application?

If you need to upload documentation after you have submitted your application (e.g.  test scores from your language test or your Bachelor's diploma), you can request to have your application re-opened.

If documentation is missing from your application, we will send you an email notification and direct you to 'Messages'  in Application portal. In this message you can see which which documentation you will need to upload.

Please note that it is not poossible to submit documents via email.
