Once you know which Master’s degree programme(s) you’re interested in, it’s time to find out if you meet the admission requirements.
The admission requirements for English-taught Master’s programmes can be split into 3 different types.
To qualify for admission you must meet both the General and Specific admission requirements as well as the English language requirement.
To be admitted to a Master’s degree programme, you must have a completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent that is comparable to a Danish bachelor's degree in both level and duration (180 ECTS).
To find out if your bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Danish Bachelor’s degree, use the national assessment database and find your country.
Each master’s degree programme has a set of specific admission requirements that you must meet in order to be admitted. These typically include a certain number of credits within relevant subject areas. You’ll find these details under Admission requirements on each programme page.
Some programmes admit only a limited number of students every year. If the programme you are interested in has a limited intake, this will be clearly stated on the individual programme page under Admission requirements. You will also be able to find the selection criteria used to assess and prioritise applicants.
You must document your level of English language proficiency when you apply. Read more about which English tests we accept, the required scores, and whether you may qualify for an exemption.
If you are interested in a programme taught in Danish, you must be able to document your Danish language proficiency.
If you can answer 'Yes' to any of the questions below, you may need to be aware of specific rules and procedures.
If you have started a Master’s degree but not completed it, the courses you’ve already passed will be reviewed to see if they can substitute courses in your new programme at Aarhus University.
This credit assessment will only take place after you’ve been offered admission.
If you have already completed a Master’s degree, you can only be admitted to a new Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme if there are vacant places . Priority is given to applicants who do not already hold a Master’s degree.
If you have a Bachelor’s degree from Aarhus University, you may have a legal right of admission and qualify automatically for the corresponding Master’s programme.
If you studied at another Danish university, you may qualify for direct admission. Under Admission Requirements on the relevant programme page, you can find a list of Bachelor's degree programmes that offers direct admission. These are certain Bachelor's degree programmes from Aarhus University and various other Danish Universities which have been determined to meet the admission requirements to a specific Master's degree.
Under 'Applying as a current or a former student' you can find information about re-enrolllment, university and campus transfer and much more.
If you do not meet the admission requirements for the programme(s) you are interested in, it may be possible to take extra credits. At Aarhus University we call these extra credits ‘Supplementary Bachelor’s courses’.
