The work-integrated Master’s degree programme in Technology-Based Business Development teaches students to collect, comprehend and assess new technological insights in relation to business opportunities. Students can choose between three focus areas: Technology and operations management, energy systems, and managing digital businesses. Regardless of the selected focus area, the programme is based on transforming companies based on thorough insight into existing operations and an assessment of technological potentials.
You will work with technology management, the implementation of new technology and the management of operating and development processes. There is a strong focus on practice, and you will have many opportunities to collaborate with companies or to integrate your own company into course projects and assignments. The first four semesters comprise compulsory courses, subject courses and project work. Afterwards, you can specialise yourself via elective courses, collaboration with companies or entrepreneurship.
A flexible work-integrated master’s degree programme is a part-time programme designed for those who are employed while studying. You follow the programme alongside your job or while working as an entrepreneur.
The work-integrated master’s degree programme bridges theory and practice, as you can directly connect what you learn in your studies with relevant work tasks. You contribute the latest academic knowledge to your workplace, while your job gives you experience in applying that knowledge in practice.

No Bachelor's degree programme(s) from Aarhus University entitles applicants to an offer of admission to the Master's degree programme in Technology Based Business Development.
Certain Bachelor's degree programmes from Aarhus University and various other Danish Universities have been determined to meet the admission requirements to this work-integrated Master's degree programme in Technology Based Business Development:

When applying for a work-integrated Master’s degree programme, you must meet the requirement of being in relevant employment.
“Relevant employment” means that you work at least 25 hours per week in a public or private company, or as an entrepreneur, and that your work tasks are professionally related to both your qualifying education and the education you are applying for.
In order to be admitted to this programme you must meet the university's English language requirements.
Students with bachelor's degree from Aarhus University with a so-called 'Legal right of admission' are exempt from the English language requirement.
All Master’s degree programmes at Aarhus University have limited intake. This means that you are not guaranteed admission even if you meet the entry requirements. When we prioritize among applicants, we assess your application based on a set of fixed ranking criteria, which you can see below.

The degree programme is a part-time programme that takes place over four years. The recommended course of study varies between 10 and 20 ECTS per semester. The thesis is started after 3 years at the latest. It is possible to complete the Master's thesis in six months rather than a year and thus complete the programme in 3.5 years.
The maximum degree completion time is 4.5 years from the time you commence your studies.

The work-integrated Master’s degree programme is a part-time degree programme that you study alongside your work.
The teaching on the programme is placed during the daytime, as you study together with the full-time students on the programme. The teaching is planned well in advance, so that you know your study plan and can plan according to it.
You should expect to spend about 18-19 hours a week on your studies.
A typical week on Technology-based Business Development will, depending on the chosen study load, consist of one or two teaching days per week, typically Monday and/or Tuesday, occasionally on other days.
The remaining time must be divided between company related study activities, exercises and preparation for teaching as well as group work.
Group work is an essential and mandatory part of the programme, and the group work can take place on Wednesday-Friday.

As a graduate, you can work in companies to create new technology-based business areas as well as develop technology strategies, products, production systems and supply chains that support these business areas. Job types are often project managers or business developers, usually with a technological focus.
Some graduates choose a more commercial direction in product management and technical sales. Other graduates choose a more technological path in physical or digital product development, production and supply chains. Common to the graduates is the engineering orientation in solution development, navigating between technical and commercial issues, collaboration and working in networks within and outside the company.
Graduates are often employed in larger private companies with a focus on export. However, many graduates are also employed in smaller companies, in the consulting industry and in public companies and institutions. You also have the opportunity to pursue research and apply for a PhD.
